The game lasts for around 40 in game days (if you manage to survive) and then, depending on your achievements, you gain medals for spending in a special set of skills which improves your next playthroughs unlocking stat bonuses, starter items, and new character specializations (which you can't completely unlock, you can't undo your choices and if you start a new save, you have to unlock ALL of them again, so plan ahead because once you spent them, there's no going back).

As time passes, some missions pop up that you can choose to participate and generally involves rescuing a new survivor, helping one of your existing survivors or a story quest. There are also periodic attacks to your camp (zombies and scavengers) which you have to defend or prevent with guards. The gear progression and crafting is really interesting, with different qualities and stats to seek. You gather materials which you can use in your camp for crafting gear for your survivors. You can assign points in base stats or jobs, each giving attribute bonuses, weapons expertise and skills, and better crafting recipes and results in the different jobs. Your characters gain experience and level up by doing quests, and killing zombies while exploring. I'm not a fan of the 'Final Fantasy' combat style in any game, but it is well implemented, with different options for attacks and defensive moves. Also, each zone has different materials and loot that can drop when killing zombies and completing random events. Most zones have 20 levels, where the first 10 are easier and the last 10 are harder, with the last one containing a boss fight. Gameplay is fun at the start, you have a camp with survivors which you can assign to different jobs (crafting, hunting and camp defense), and also you have a map where you explore different zones and do missions. There are no voice acting for the characters, which is a bit sad because you don't get to relate or care about them too much. The music is nice, every zone has its own theme, but it gets repetitive really quick. Some of the weapons attack sounds and animations don't match, sometimes the death sounds of the zombies doesn't play, and sometimes the weapon type doesn't match the sound that it makes. And the notebook style of the UI is great for this type of game. The art style in the mini cutscenes is cool. The environments are really well done with a lot of detail. The characters and zombies are a bit weird looking, but is ok.

Fun, repetitive and a bit disappointing game.
